wind turbine component inspection.jpg
As the recognized worldwide leader in dimensional inspection systems for the automotive, aerospace and heavy industrial markets, Hexagon Metrology is uniquely positioned with our extensive offering of dimensional inspection systems that are ideal for windpower industry applications, from the OEM to all tiers of sub-suppliers.  The typical commerical wind turbine contains over 8,000 parts, all of which must fit together correctly for the system to work properly.  The high cost of field repairs of turbines means that ensuring all the component parts are right from the start is essential.  Hexagon Metrology manufactures a wide variety of dimensional inspection systems and software to assist in every aspect of windpower component manufacture.  We manufacture Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for inspection of precision components, portable inspection systems such as articulated arms, laser trackers and total stations for large-scale inspection and assembly in the factory or in the field, and specialty measuring packages and software for gears, blade and tube geometry. Partner with Hexagon Metrology, one source for your dimensional inspection needs.   The diagram above shows the various components of a typical wind tubine, refer below to all the various ways that Hexagon Metrology products help ensure the highest quality of components.

6. Inspection of tower components during fabrication and alignment during construction can be accomplished with Leica Total Stations. wind2.jpg
 4. (below) Blades can be field-inspected with a Leica Laser Tracker.
wind4.jpg 1. and 5. and  (left) Inspection of high precision components such as gearboxes, brakes, motor housings, gears and shafts is accomplished with Leitz or Brown & Sharpe coordinate measuring machines.  wind5.jpg
4. (right)  Blade analysis can be done with high-density 3D scanning and comparison to CAD models.
