Hexagon Metrology Introduces First Battery Powered IP54 Certified Absolute Tracker |
|
|
|
|
The new Leica Absolute Tracker AT401 is a highly accurate portable CMM for 3D measurements over ultra long ranges. It is the first laser tracker to be battery operated and designed for cable-less operation. It is IP54 certified and includes enhanced features such as PowerLock and Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) that make it the easiest to use 3D Leica Absolute Tracker ever created.
Hexagon Metrology, Inc. announced today the immediate availability of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT401. With a weight of only 8 kg including controller, a height of just 29 cm and a minimal configuration that allows it to be transported as carry on luggage on most large international airliners, the new Leica Absolute Tracker AT401 sets a new level of portability in the industry. This all new laser tracker incorporates an advanced power management system that allows the batteries to be hot swapped as well as the system to be run off of Power over Ethernet (PoE+).
Both the instrument’s horizontal and vertical axes allow infinite rotation, and when the quick release handle is removed it has a full vertical measurement dome of +/- 145º. The Leica Absolute Tracker AT401 pushes the boundaries of size, weight, range and usability and sets new standards for accuracy. The ADM in the Leica Absolute Tracker AT401 has a maximum uncertainty of just 10 microns over the full certified volume. This new laser tracker comes with enhanced Leica Geosystems technology such as PowerLock beam recovery, Automatic Target Recognition (ATR), maintenance-free Piezo drives and survey grade precision level to gravity sensor.
“The Leica Absolute Tracker AT401 allows us to take laser tracker solutions into a wider application base. Together with the proven AT901 we are now able to offer the very best price versus performance ratio from a variety of Absolute Laser Trackers thereby enabling our customers to choose the right tool for the job in hand”, says Duncan Redgewell, Hexagon Metrology’s Vice President Portable Products.
Hexagon Metrology, Inc. will present the Leica Absolute Tracker AT401 at the Quality Expo South show in Charlotte, NC, April 28-29, 2010, Booth 1505.

The new ROMER Absolute Arm is the first portable measuring arm
with absolute encoders. This portable CMM can attain high levels of
speed and productivity when taking 3D measurements.
21 April 2010 – Hexagon Metrology introduces a new generation of
ROMER portable 3D measuring arms to the market. The ROMER Absolute Arm
is the most accurate ROMER CMM ever manufactured. It is also the first
measuring arm to have absolute encoders, a development that will greatly

Wilcox Associates Introduces the New-to-the-Market PC-DMIS Planner |
|

Innovative Software Links CAD Data with
Inspection on Measuring Machines
North Kingstown, RI – April 20, 2010 – Wilcox Associates, Inc., a
Hexagon Metrology company, announced today the release of the
new-to-the-market PC-DMIS Planner software. The groundbreaking toolset
improves the flow of information between the design department, which
designs parts in the virtual CAD world, and the engineering departments
who manage the quality control function and inspect "as-built" parts in
the real world. PC-DMIS Planner was developed to create a formalized and
two-directional data flow between a CAD model and its related
inspection part programs. In many companies today, design modifications
such as tolerance adjustments are communicated downstream through
informal methods such as a phone call or a marked-up drawing. PC-DMIS
Planner automates these communication links so CAD file revisions can be
electronically communicated to quality control…keeping all departments
in sync.
